Kolhapur Komal Kamble was married at a very young age. The daughter of a poor family, who lives in Rajendra Nagar area, was not easy to make her mark in a city like Kolhapur. The husband works as a porter, and the entire responsibility of the house was on Komal’s shoulders – from the care of young children to running the house. In such a situation, dreaming of education was no less than a challenge. But Komal had never learned to give up.

Strengthen themselves for the future of children
Komal’s dream was to give his children a good future and for him it was necessary to empower himself. So he chose the path of studies. He kept his dreams alive amidst cleanliness and cooking work in four houses. One day, an aunt of the house where she worked, told him one thing that touched her heart – “Komal, how long will you continue to work like this? Study, life will change.” This one advice changed the direction of Komal’s life.

Balance made between admission, studies and work in night college

Komal enrolled in Kolhapur’s Night College of Arts and Commerce. Waking up at 5:30 am, children and house care, then studying till 7:30 became their routine. Around 9 o’clock she would leave for work and return home by 2:30 pm. Then she would study again by 4 pm and would go to work again at night. Even after getting so tired, he never gave up studies. She says, “She used to get tired, but inspired herself by looking at the children.”

Commerce chose to give direction to dreams
Komal chose a commercial branch thoughtfully, as she wants to start her own small business in future. They feel that by studying commerce, they will be able to understand business and account. He was initially scared of mathematics, but college teachers made the subjects so easy that she was filled with confidence.

Teachers and family support strength

Komal had a big hand in his college, especially teachers. The principal of the night college says, “Komal has been a very hard working student. The success of students like her is the biggest inspiration for us.” Komal herself says, “My teachers, my aunt and my husband always encouraged me to move forward.”

Now Komal after 12th B.Com. I am preparing to enroll in She wants to give competitive exams later so that they can get a government job. She says, “I want to give good life to my children.
