Quit labor and become water chestnut farmer
Jai Swaroop says that I have started water chestnut farming for the last three years. However, I had learned water chestnut farming from my father in my childhood. But in between he started working as a laborer, that is, he migrated to the city. But savings were not possible by staying outside. Then he came back to the village and started water chestnut farming again and now his household expenses are running well.
Earned this much in just 2 months
Jai Swaroop says that this crop is ready in about 2 months. A good profit can be earned from this crop only by living in the village. I have been earning good profits in this for the last 2 years. If he went out to earn, he would not be able to save even Rs 20,000 in 3 months. But now by planting water chestnuts in 2 bighas, they earn 50 to 80 thousand rupees in 3 months just by living in the village.
Water chestnut bears fruit for 2 months
Jai Swaroop tells that there is such a crop which gives crop for 2 months. It means that after 2 to 3 months water chestnut starts appearing in the vine and it bears fruits continuously for 2 months.
Water chestnut comes twice in 1 vine
Jai Swaroop tells that one water chestnut vine produces 6 to 8 water chestnut fruits. Once they are plucked, water chestnuts still grow on the vine. In this way it can be said that one vine produces 14 to 15 water chestnut fruits.
No problem with stray animals
Jaiswaroop tells that traditional wheat, gram, pigeon pea and lentils are cultivated here. Stray animals eat a lot of these crops. Nilgai are also found here. Whereas in water chestnut farming there is no problem of stray animals. There is no problem with Nilgai also.
Jaiswaroop says that any person can cultivate water chestnut. However, it requires a lot of learning and hard work. Also keep spraying insecticides in it so that insects do not get into it.
