Success Story: Ranchi’s Romita Majumdar founded Foxtel after studying from UCLA. Today, she has gained recognition across the country as a business woman by building a company worth crores.

Romita, who came from a small town in Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi and became one of the biggest business women of the country, proved this to be true. Born in a small town like Ranchi, Romita Majumdar has always been ambitious. Despite limited resources, his parents gave priority to education. As a result, Romita set big goals for her studies and reached the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), America.

Today, on the basis of his hard work he has built a company worth crores. Romita Majumdar started her career with Bank of America Merrill Lynch. In his initial days, he was associated with technical banking, but soon consumer technology became the center of his interest. Working with companies like Air BnB, Uber and Pinterest was inspiring for him.

She herself was a user of these services, which deepened her professional understanding through personal experience. Romita’s goal was clear to build a company that would achieve Rs 1,000 crore valuation and 20% EBITDA. For this he chose a sector where profits were high.

There is potential for rapid growth and where they themselves are a power user. From here he entered the skincare and beauty and personal care (BPC) sector and founded Foxtel. Before founding Foxtel, Romita did extensive research. They studied over 100 unique skincare brands.

Had in-depth conversations with 1000 women from at least 10 cities of India. From this she reached two main points. Firstly, Indian consumers look for efficacy first and secondly, consumers want fast results. On this basis, he created a strategy of limited but highly effective product line.

In January 2021, Romita started product development in collaboration with Dr. Ramesh Surin Narayanan by setting up an R&D lab in Chennai. Every product is launched in the market after 12-18 months of intensive testing. The brand was named Foxtel.

Romita’s leadership style is based on authenticity and clarity. She has the same expectations from the team that she imposes on herself. For them, connection with the organization is most important.
