Travel started battling hunger
Born on 25 November 1915 in a poor farmer family of Korea, Chung Ju-Yung’s life is like a book of struggles. Chung Joo-Yung, who was once hungry and thirsty and eating bark, spent every moment of his life in the struggle. But he decided that poverty cannot shorten his thinking.
Hyundai foundation
Between studies and hard work, Chung Joo-Yung did small work so that he could help the family. But his dream was always big. In 1947, he started a small building company. Despite the early conflicts and lack of resources, Chung Ju-Young did not give up. He traveled to Japan and America to learn modern technology and planned to take his company to a new point. In 1967, he laid the foundation of Hyundai construction industry and established Hyundai Motors in 1976. Gradually, the company crossed the borders of South Korea and joined the world’s major car companies.
Chung Joo-Young proved that any person can make impossible possible with hard work, courage and foresight. He died in 2001, but his life and his company are still inspiring for millions.
