While the hard work of the players was behind the success of the team, the role of the team owners is also important. The four main co-owners of Punjab Kings are Preity Zinta, Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia and Karan Paul. According to reports, Mohit Burman is the largest shareholder, while Karan Paul has the smallest share.
Nevertheless, Karan Paul has contributed a lot to the growth of the team. He is the chairman of Apeejay Surrendra Group. It is a 100 year old business group that works in real estate, hospitality, shipping and tea industry. At the age of just 30, Karan had successfully revived two loss-making businesses and turned them into profits. Today the turnover of this group is Rs 6,000 crore.
Italy has been honored
Karan is counted among the wise and strategic business leaders of the country. He has also been on the committees of many industry bodies like FICCI, CII and Indian Chamber of Commerce. In the year 2006, he was given Italy’s honor Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity.
Invested in Punjab Kings in 2008
Karan had invested in Punjab Kings in the year 2008 due to his love for cricket and since then he has been associated with the team. His personal life is equally interesting. Karan was married to supermodel Indrani Dasgupta in 2014. The same year when Punjab Kings reached the IPL final for the first time. Indrani has been called the ‘Supermodel of the Decade’ and has worked for brands like Lakme, Allen Solly, Monte Carlo and Reebok.
Karan Paul stays away from headlines
Today Karan and Indrani live a very private and simple life with their two children Kabir Anand Paul and Uma Kismat Paul. Even though he is associated with both the world of glamor and cricket, staying away from the limelight is his special identity.
