Nagaur. 16-year-old Priyanka, from Potliya Manjra, a small village in Nagaur district, is today the captain of the Rajasthan women’s hockey team. He has achieved this position with his hard work, dedication and passion. Priyanka, who started sports from the village government school, proved that no matter how big the dreams are, hard work and courage can turn them into reality. Her story is an inspiration for lakhs of girls of Rajasthan.

Priyanka’s star first shone when she led her team to victory as captain in the 66th state level school hockey competition in 2022. He surprised everyone by scoring 18 goals in four matches alone. In that tournament, Nagaur won the title by defeating Sikar 7-1 and Priyanka also got the title of “Best Player of the Tournament”.

In 2023 also, under the leadership of Priyanka, Nagaur achieved the honor of becoming state champion for the second consecutive time. In this competition, her team scored 10 goals in six matches, due to which Priyanka’s leadership abilities and understanding of the game were highly appreciated.

Sarpanch recognized talent, coach gave guidance
Sarpanch of Raydhanu village Omaram Bhadu, who himself has been a hockey player, has also played an important role in Priyanka’s success. He started giving hockey training to the village children and after recognizing Priyanka’s extraordinary talent, he took her forward in this direction. Even today, Priyanka takes rigorous training under his supervision and gives credit for her success to her coach.

Mother took responsibility after father’s death
This journey of Priyanka has been full of challenges. His father Parmana Ram has passed away. In such a situation, her mother Babu Devi has taken the responsibility of both the house and the daughter and has supported Priyanka at every step. Priyanka studies in a government school and practices hockey every morning. She gives equal importance to both studies and sports.

Now my dream is to play for India
Priyanka’s next dream is to one day become a part of the Indian women’s hockey team and bring glory to the country. Her coach says that Priyanka has the three qualities of leadership, discipline and passion, which make her a great player in the future.
