He left traditional farming and started vegetable farming and earns up to Rs 12 lakh every year. You will be surprised to know that the farmer is only 8th pass. Jaipal Inwati, resident of Surwahi village of Balaghat, studied till eighth standard, but his younger brother studied and became an officer in the Horticulture Department. In such a situation, the younger brother took the elder brother to Jhabua and got him trained in vegetable farming there. The effect of the training was that Jaipal’s way of looking at farming changed. He took farming commercially and said goodbye to traditional farming. Now he is upgrading himself by taking advantage of government schemes.
Poly house built in one acre
Jaipal got a poly house installed with the help of the government in the year 2019. Initially he incurred an expenditure of Rs 28 lakh 40 thousand, out of which he also received a grant of Rs 14 lakh 20 thousand. Now he cultivates off-season vegetables in a poly house and earns profit thrice a year. At present he is cultivating cabbage. He was the first to cultivate capsicum. But due to the Corona period, the prices of vegetables had declined. In such a situation, there was definitely some loss. But the production was plentiful. Then 600 quintals were produced in the first trial itself. In this he had a net income of three to four lakh rupees.
Sells cabbage worth Rs 3 lakh in one season
Jaipal said that it costs more the first time. After this, the cost of mulching is saved and is spent only on seeds and medicines. 100 quintals of cabbage is produced in one acre, which is worth three and a half lakh rupees. In such a situation, about three lakh rupees are left net.
Cultivate vegetables in 6 acres
Jaipal told that he cultivates only vegetables in 6 acres. In this he also cultivates bitter gourd, lady’s finger, cucumber, semi, popat and other crops. Apart from this, good production is also achieved in the cultivation of potatoes and barbati. Horticulture department provides a lot of help in farming, which makes farming easier.
