Raisen Success Story: Lost my eyesight due to smallpox in childhood, but did not lose courage. Bhagwan Singh Raghuvanshi, 29, of village Vikalpur in Raisen district, studied in school without eyes, appeared in exams with normal children and also topped the 12th class in the disabled category in Madhya Pradesh. Further completed education till BA, MA, B.Ed., ITI. Today Bhagwan Singh is doing a government job in Begumganj PHE department.

Raisen. 29-year-old Bhagwan Singh Raghuvanshi, resident of village Vikalpur in Silwani tehsil of the district, has been blind since childhood. At the age of two, smallpox took away his eyesight, but he never lost courage. The story of Lord Singh is an inspiration for those people who consider the difficulties of life as their compulsion and retreat. Since childhood, Bhagwan Singh chose the path of understanding instead of reading books. Studied with general students in Mahatma Gandhi Government High Secondary School, Bhopal. Understanding lessons from friends’ voices and taking exams with the same confidence was a part of his daily routine.
The result of this struggle was that he secured first position in 12th class in the disabled category of Madhya Pradesh. In his honour, the then Chief Minister gifted him a laptop, which proved to be his greatest companion for his further studies. Bhagwan Singh has BA, MA, B.Ed. And continued education till ITI. After completing his studies, he taught children in the Higher Secondary School of Tulsipar village of Silwani. While teaching, he inspired both disabled children and normal students. His journey did not stop here.
Got a government job in Begumganj, Raisen.
After some time, he started preparing for a government job and was selected for the post of clerk in Begumganj PHE department. The real strength of Lord Leo is his self-reliance. He travels alone every day by bus from his village to Begumganj. After reaching office, they handle the work with full responsibility and return in the evening. Household chores, use of mobile and laptop are also done easily. Looking at them no one would guess that they are blind.
Now the next target is MPPSC exam, Bhagwan Singh is busy preparing
His next goal is to get a big post by passing MPPSC exam. Begumganj SDM Saurabh Mishra is also supporting him in this dream. SDM has arranged books and coaching for their preparation. Lord Singh believes that courage and hard work are the greatest strengths. The story of Bhagwan Singh changes the thinking which considers shortcomings as weakness. His journey shows that light is not in the eyes but in the courage.
