After the MSc (IT) degree, Rakesh was preparing for competitive examinations and was also teaching. But he was not getting satisfaction from this work. He decided to do something that is connected to the heart and in which inspiration is hidden for others. The same thinking took them towards the cultivation of flowers. Rakesh first approached the Horticulture Department and inquired about government schemes and technical help. After getting a bamboo shift house in encouragement and grant from the department, he started nursery in Bhimtal bypass area. In the initial stages, he grown some variety of seconds and seasonal flowers, which were sold in Delhi and Bareilly flowers mandis.
Employment given to more than 20 youth
Gradually the profit increased and Rakesh expanded his business. Today, in his nursery, more than 100 varieties of flowers like Salvia, Pitonia are prepared. The special thing is that more than 30 youth are working in his 3 nursery, whose stay and food has also been arranged by Rakesh. Along with this, they also buy flowers from local flower growers, due to which they too have got permanent income and new market. This story of Rakesh Bisht is an example that if the intentions are strong and government schemes are used properly, then there are immense possibilities of self -employment in the mountains. Today they have emerged as a new ray of hope for the youth of Uttarakhand.
