New Delhi. It is said that a big idea is not born until a difficulty arises. Same thing happened with the son of a farmer from Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh. Frustrated with the complicated process of investing in the stock market, he thought why not make it easier? And this thinking gave birth to that company, whose value today is around Rs 70 thousand crores. We are talking about Lalit Keshere. Keshare is the co-founder of brokerage firm ‘Grow’. BillionBrains Garage Ventures Limited, the parent company of ‘Groww’, is launching an IPO of Rs 6,632 crore on Tuesday.

Grow is the platform with the highest number of active users (1.19 crore) in the country, whose estimated value is estimated at Rs 70 thousand crore. Co-founder and CEO Lalit Keshare has a big role behind this success. Lalit Kesare along with Harsh Jain, Neeraj Singh and Ishaan Bansal laid the foundation of Grow. Lalit’s first startup failed and he was burdened with debt. He repaid this loan by working in Flipkart.

This is how the idea came

The paper formalities and lengthy process required to buy shares surprised him. Then he thought, if an engineering educated person can face so much difficulty in buying shares then how difficult it would be for a common man. It was from here that the idea of making investment easier came to his mind, which later took shape as ‘Groww’. This is an online platform that has reduced investment to a few clicks for crores of Indians.

The first startup failed

Lalit was born in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh. He was smart in studies and cracked JEE without any coaching and got admission in Electrical Engineering at IIT Bombay. After college, worked for a few years and then started his first startup ‘Eduflix’ in 2011. At that time the internet was expensive and limited, so they sold course material in pen drives and memory cards. Although this startup failed, Lalit was not one to give up. He worked in Flipkart and returned the money of all the investors of ‘Eduflix’.

The foundation of GROW was laid in 2016

In 2016, while being a manager at Flipkart, Lalit needed a trustworthy partner for his business idea. One day, I took the interview of Harsh Jain who had come for the product manager job. He was his old friend, whom he had known for a long time. He convinced Harsh for the startup. After this Neeraj Singh and Ishaan Bansal also became part of the team. This team together started ‘Groww’. An investment platform that has today achieved the title of becoming India’s number-1 online brokerage platform with more than 1.19 crore active users.

26 thousand crore net worth

Today the estimated net worth of Lalit Keshare is Rs 26 thousand crores. The IPO of his company Groww is now going to open for investors, the total value of which is Rs 6,632 crore. He has also recently been included in Time magazine’s ‘100 Next 25’ list. Even today, Lalit Keshare personally sees the complaints of customers coming to his platform. He believes that unless the customer’s problem is felt himself, the right solution cannot be found. This customer-centric thinking is the biggest strength of Groww.
