Although Bihar’s Litti-Chokha is famous all over the world, but there is another dish which is liked the most. This dish is especially made on festivals like Chhath and its name is Thekua. You may find it a bit strange after hearing the name, but its taste makes everyone crazy about it. Two teenage boys from Bengal turned this taste and desi touch into a business. He started just to distribute Prasad on festivals, but the demand for his product increased so much that today it has become a business worth more than one crore.
Jayant and Kailash, residents of West Bengal, started this business from the dilapidated kitchen of their house. His initial investment was also only Rs 10 thousand. His product, which first became famous in his town, is now bought and sold all over Bihar. Their Thekua can now also be ordered by placing an online order.
How did the business idea come about?
This idea of thekua business first came to the mind of 17 year old Jayant, when he fell ill after buying thekua from a roadside shop. Jayant thought why not make it in pure form and sell it so that no one else falls ill. With this idea, Jayant started his business, but he was looking for a partner. Jayant asked his friend Kailash, who earlier used to sell water bottles at railway stations, to become his partner. When this pair came together, something amazing happened and they turned a small idea into a business worth crores of rupees.
The brand name is very attractive
Kailash and Jayant named their brand Shuddh Swad Thekua. The intention behind this was to provide pure Thekua to the people. Although Thekua is made in Bihar only on the occasion of Chhath Puja, but these two boys made it a brand and made it available to the people throughout the year. Especially for those customers who have no connection with Bihar.
no order for 2 months
Kailash and Jayant worked hard to improve their product. Both of them worked for 10 hours a day and laid special emphasis on improving the quality of their product. For the first two months, both of them did not get even a single order and people started taunting them for going into the wrong business. Despite this, both of them did not give up and continued branding themselves on social media platforms and local markets. Gradually his hard work bore fruit and he has about 3 lakh customers, while the business has increased to Rs 1 crore.
