Muzaffarpur: There was a time when it seemed that everything would end… Papa was battling Covid. There was no one to earn at home and it seemed that now I would miss my studies. These are the words of Abhishek Kumar, a student of MIT College, Muzaffarpur, who has defeated all the difficulties and passed the Junior Engineer (RRB JE) examination of the Railway Recruitment Board in his very first attempt. This story of the son of a small grocery shopkeeper of Buxar is an example of determination and unwavering hard work.
Abhishek’s father Jai Prakash Jaiswal, resident of Buxar, runs a grocery shop and his mother Manju Devi is a housewife. Abhishek’s inspiration story started in his childhood itself. When he was in 10th class, he saw an engineer in his neighborhood and was so impressed by him that he decided that he too would make a career in the same field. ‘Electrostatics’ chapter of Physics in 12th class transformed his dream of becoming an electrical engineer into a passion.
After clearing JEE Mains, Abhishek took admission in Electrical Engineering at MIT, Muzaffarpur in 2020. But this was the same period when the Corona epidemic had engulfed the country. Studies began online, but the real challenge came when his father, the only earning member of the household, got infected with Corona.
Recalling that difficult period, Abhishek says, that one month was very terrible for our family. Papa remained ill for a month. People had kept distance from us, no one would come near. On one hand, caring for my father, on the other hand, worrying about home and my studies, everything had become a challenge like a mountain. I thought my dream would be shattered now. But he did not give up. Gradually the situation became normal and Abhishek again concentrated completely on his studies.
During college, Abhishek started preparing for GATE, but did not get success in it. He did not lose courage and immediately prepared his backup plan. He focused on the RRB JE exam and started preparing with all his dedication. His hard work paid off and he passed this prestigious examination in the very first attempt.
Now Abhishek is going to take over the post of Junior Engineer in CSMT, Mumbai on 3rd November. This news creates an atmosphere of happiness not only in his family but in the entire MIT College.
Credit for success and message to the youth
Abhishek gives credit for his success to his parents and teachers, who supported him in every situation. Giving a message to today’s youth, he says, in today’s internet era, money is not a hindrance for studies. Identify your goal, understand its syllabus and work hard continuously with honesty. Practice solving as many questions as possible, because practice makes the concepts stronger. Principal of MIT, Dr.M.K. Jha and Dr. Y.N Sharma, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, while congratulating Abhishek said that he has been a brilliant student since the beginning and his success will become a source of inspiration for other students.
