Born in Karachi, Rajni Bacter came to Ludhiana in Punjab at the time of partition. He spent his childhood in this city and got married at the age of 17. After raising three sons and sending them to boarding school, the Bacter enrolled in a course at Punjab Agricultural University.
From the very beginning, an enthusiastic Cook and Baker, Better’s ice cream and cake recipes soon became popular among her friends and acquaintances. Inspired by this, he borrowed Rs 300 to buy the oven. And similarly the biscuit brand started – with the oven and ice cream of RS 300, which the Bacter made behind his own house. In 1978, when the Bacter’s bakery began to attract a lot of attention, the Bacter’s family lended him Rs 20,000 to set up an ice cream manufacturing unit. Bester chose the name ‘Cremica’, which is a game of Hindi word ‘Cream Ka’, which means made of cream.
