Dehradun: In Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, some young students, who were studying agricultural science, made up their mind to start business related to farming. But due to lack of fields, they were not able to do farming directly. Finding a solution to this problem, the idea of mushroom farming came to his mind. Mushrooms do not need a farm for farming, but it can also be grown in a room. Instead of looking for a job, he made mushroom production a better source of income. This is an area where there is a possibility of earning millions in low cost and less space. Due to this, many young entrepreneurs have started becoming entrepreneurs and are becoming a source of inspiration for others.

The weather of Uttarakhand is very favorable for mushroom farming. Therefore, the state government has insisted on promoting mushroom farming with bakery under the ‘Ek District Do Product’ scheme. The demand for mushrooms in big hotels and restaurants is continuously increasing. The youth of Dehradun are growing mushrooms and processing it and selling it.

Youth set up business

Dehradun entrepreneur Simran said that he started mushroom farming about five years ago with BSC Agriculture students and his seniors. Initially, he took training and started making pickles to keep mushrooms safe in every season. He established the ‘Bhu Kripa Farm’ and started making pickles with some women.

After this, apart from mushrooms, he started making mountainous products like Timla, Lingade, Hill Lemon, Garlic and Mango Pickle. Since they could not grow all the products themselves, they started taking raw materials from the small farmers of the mountain, which also increased the income of farmers.

Women and farmers get employment
Simran told that earlier they used to sell their products by setting up stalls in exhibitions and fairs. Now he has also increased business through online orders. In this small business, 12 women and 6 farmers are getting employment. This work has helped women and farmers to become self -sufficient.
