Idea came up with animals
Ukabhai has about 2 acres of 16 Gutha land. He initially wires around the field. But Nilgai and pigs used to enter the field in some way or the other. Peanuts and other crops used to eat these animals and all the hard work became useless.
2000 Sharif plants planted around the farm
Then the idea of planting a tree of sharif came to his mind. He planted about 2,000 Sitaphal plants on the ridge of the entire field. He started this work 5 years ago. Today all those plants have become trees. The height of these trees, thick leaves and thorny sticks have become so dense that no wild animal now dare to enter the field.
Ukabhai’s trick not only saved the crop from animals, but now these trees have also started earning. For the first time this year, Sitaphal crop has come. According to him, about 5 to 10 kg of Sharifa is found from a tree. Its price in the market ranges from 200 to 300 rupees per kg. That is, it is possible to earn from 1000 to 2000 rupees annually from a tree.
In the first year, he is aware of the income of about Rs 50,000. In the coming years, when trees get older, then this earnings can increase to Rs 1 lakh.
Sitaphal trees have made a “live wall” around the field in a way. Now Ukabhai does not need to put any man or laborer to guard the farm. This is saving hard work and money too.
Other farmers are also learning these methods
This trick of Ukabhai has become a topic of discussion in the village. Many farmers around are now thinking of doing something similar to them. Many people come to their fields and see this system and take inspiration. When the cost in farming is more and the profits are decreasing, at such a time farmers like Ukabhai are showing new paths.
