Laljibhai understood that due to the chemicals found in food and drink, the mother’s health is deteriorating so much. Just from here, he decided that now he would not put any chemical in farming.
Laljibhai was only in the twelfth at that time, but the thinking was very big. In the year 2018, he started organic farming with the help of Atma Project and some good teachers. Initially people jokingly made fun, said- “Nothing rises without adding chemical in farming”, but they did not listen to anyone.
Mother’s health improved, drug is spent zero
The impact of organic farming was first seen on his mother. The vegetables and grains that used to grow in the house started food. In a few months, there was a tremendous improvement in the mother’s health. Now neither the medicine was needed nor the doctor’s round.
Today Laljibhai grows such crops on their 4 bighas of land which no one grows in the surrounding villages.
Such as – exotic vegetables like purple and yellow cauliflower, broccoli, Romansco broccoli, bok choy, nonkhol, zucchini.
Along with this, native things like turmeric, suran, ginger, yam also grow a lot.
Apart from this, grains like wheat, millet, peanuts are also grown without any chemical.
Vegetables transport from Whatsapp to the house directly
Laljibhai has formed a WhatsApp group called ‘Satlasna Panthk’, adopting a digital method. Every Friday, he puts a list of fresh vegetables and their prices in the group. Customers order and then vegetables are delivered to their house on Saturday. Their vegetables reach Mehsana to Gandhinagar.
Laljibhai is earning about 10 lakh rupees every year from 4 bighas of land.
Support was also received from government schemes
Laljibhai got the benefit of the schemes of Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi and Horticulture Department. The Atma Project helped them prepare the model form. Things like tarpaulin and water pump were found from the Agriculture Department. Also, a pavilion was also found from the boost institution, which made it easier to sell the crop.
Both earning and social service from farming
Laljibhai says that he is not doing farming only for money. They want people to stay away from poisonous food. He thanked Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat ji and the state government, who are promoting natural farming.
