The sewing machine was eating dust in a corner… Then something happened that a woman became a millionaire!

Godda: Soni Bibi and Taranum Nisar of Asambani locality of Godda were sometimes an ordinary housewife who struggled financially. The husband’s income used to end in running the house. But today the same women are earning from their own hard work and the women’s group of the city council, every month, 15 to 20 thousand rupees and they too only by working for 2 to 3 hours daily.

New path found by joining women’s group
Soni Bibi told that when she joined the Ujala women self -help group of the city council, she was inspired to become self -sufficient for the first time. Through the group, a loan of Rs 30,000 was received from which they bought a sewing machine and started the work of embroidery in the house itself.

Initially, there was only 1-2 kurti and suits sewing, but today she prepares 3 to 4 dresses daily and is earning from 400 to 600 rupees daily. She says that now she is sharing her hand in the responsibilities of home with her husband, children’s education, house ration, and small needs are easily met.

Dream of Taranum – Opening your own boutique
The second woman Tarannum Nisar said that she took a loan of ₹ 15,000 from the group and bought a sewing machine. He had a little sewing experience already, but after getting training from the group, both his confidence and skills were enhanced. Now their dream is to open a small boutique in the coming time so that they can also give employment to other women.

Just a few hours every day, but big impact

The routine of these women starts with household chores in the morning. By noon, they get involved in sewing only 2 to 3 hours work, but big economic change. This small beginning has given him the self -confidence that the society had taken away from them for years.

Group’s CRP says – Every woman can take advantage
Sushila Devi, CRP of the city council, says that any woman can take advantage of this scheme. For this, first a women’s group has to be formed, then financial assistance is given to the group. In a district like Godda, this initiative is playing a big role in increasing women towards self -sufficiency.
