Revented way from diamond industry to farming
Vinodbhai is originally from Asrana village in Bhavnagar district, but now he lives in Dabholi area of Surat. Earlier he was associated with the diamond industry, but in 2011, a visit to a beekeeping center in Haryana changed his thinking. At the same time, he decided that now he will make beekeeping their future.
Initially, he started work with just 25 boxes, but today he has more than 1100 bee boxes. They prepare about 30 to 35 tonnes of pure honey every year. They believe that honey from different crops is also different in taste. Honey prepared by them has the scent of crops like parsley, fennel, sesame, acacia, sargwan, pomegranate and drumstick.
Italian bees make special honey
Vinodbhai says that he uses Italian bees especially which make honey in 20 to 22 days. Bees boxes are placed on the ground. When honey is ready, it is filtered and packed and then honey is transported from the processing center to the market.
Talking to Local 18, Vinodbhai said that in the beginning when he started beekeeping, people did not believe him. But he did not give up. In the year 2019, he started an FPO ie Kisan Producer Organization named ‘Narmada-Surat Honey Producer Company Limited’. Today, this organization makes about 35 tonnes of honey every year with more than 1100 boxes and earns more than 30 lakh rupees.
