Samastipur: The story of Lalita Devi, resident of Gauspur Sarsauna village of Samastipur district in Bihar, has become an inspiration for thousands of women today. Sometimes Lalita along with her husband used to buy murabba from the market and sell it retail at the squares and intersections in the village. The husband used to sell marmalade by traveling here and there on a bicycle or a small cart. Whereas Lalita herself used to directly connect with the customers near her house or in the local market. Despite limited resources and income, he did not give up. This hard work and dedication has taken him to where he is today. Where today she herself has become the owner of a factory.
In 2016, Lalita Devi’s life started changing. When she joined the ‘Jeevika’ scheme of Bihar government. This scheme not only gave them financial assistance. But also guided towards becoming self-reliant. With the help of Jeevika, he started a murabba making unit and gradually started producing it himself. Now they no longer need to buy goods from outside. The quality and taste of the marmalades made by him attracted the customers, due to which he started to be recognized as an entrepreneur. Today, apart from Samastipur, their marmalades are also being sold in states like Begusarai, Patna, Khagaria, Muzaffarpur, Bihar Sharif, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
Became an example for other women
Lalita Devi has become a ray of hope not only for herself but also for other women. 5 to 6 women work in his factory every day, who have got permanent employment. Apart from this, many local farmers also join them and provide raw materials, which has opened up a new employment option in the village. Lalita supplies about 8 to 9 tonnes of murabba every month and is earning a good income. Even after taking out the expenses, he makes profit, due to which he has planned to further expand the work of his factory.
Lalita became an example of self-reliance
