Rajinder Gupta is a veteran industrialist as well as a reputed social worker. He has done a lot of work in education, health and the interest of the poor. Gupta was born into an ordinary family in Punjab. His family did not even have a distant relationship with business.

Could read only up to ninth

Due to the lack of financial condition of the family, Rajinder Gupta was able to study only till the ninth grade. At a young age, he started working in a factory. Here he used to get only 30 rupees salary every day. That means 900 rupees a month. But Rajinder never gave up. They wanted to do something big. He worked hard day and night to fulfill his dream.

Fertilizer business launched in 1985

Rajinder Gupta worked hard for many years. Added some money and started fertilizer business in 1985. He formed a fertilizer company called ‘Abhishek Industries’. It was from here that his visit to entrepreneurship started, which later turned into a trident group. He benefited a lot from this business.

In 1991, Gupta introduced the spinning mill as a joint venture, which proved to be extremely successful. In the coming years, his business spread in areas like textile, paper and chemicals. Trident established its production centers in Punjab and Madhya Pradesh and became a symbol of industrial development of North India.

Goods are exported to 150 countries

Today Trident is a leading company in the field of home textiles and paper manufacturing worldwide. Trident’s towels and bedsheets are among its best selling products. Rajinder Gupta’s success in Punjab business schools is taught as a case study. Trident factories are in Punjab and Madhya Pradesh.
